Q. Where is Rocky Point located?
A. Rocky Point (Puerto Penasco), is located 212 miles south of Phoenix, Arizona and is approximately 66 miles south of the Arizona/Mexico border. The nearest border crossing is in Lukeville, AZ.
Q. How long does it take to drive to Rocky Point?
A. About 4.5 hours from Phoenix or Tucson. We stop once in Ajo for a lunch/restroom break. Our service runs out of Phoenix, not Tucson.
Q. What is your cancellation policy?
A. If you cancel at least 72 hours before your trip will refund your money less $25 processing fees. No refunds within the 72 hour window.
Q. Is it illegal to bring guns into Mexico?
A. ABSOLUTELY NO KNIVES, FIREARMS OR AMMUNITION WHAT SO EVER!!!
Q. How much alcohol and seafood can we bring back to the U.S.?
A. You are allowed to bring back one liter of alcohol per person and fifty pounds of seafood per vehicle.
Q. What about buying prescription medicine in Mexico?
A. If you have purchased medication in Mexico which requires a prescription in the U.S. you must carry the prescription with you.
Q. What if we have car trouble on the Mexican highway?
A. Angeles Verdes (Green Angels) help motorists in distress. They drive green and white pickup trucks.
Q. Do we need to exchange dollars for pesos in Rocky Point?
A. No, U.S. dollars are welcome everywhere.
Q. Can we use credit cards?
A. Yes, some hotels, restaurants and businesses accept credit cards. We suggest notifying your credit card company that you will be using your card in Puerto Penasco, Mexico. But cash is accepted everywhere.
Q. Is it safe to drink the water?
A. The water in Rocky Point is generally considered safe. Most restaurants and hotels serve bottled water.
Q. Do our cell phones work in Rocky Point?
A. Some cell phones do work down there. You might need to add an International Calling feature on some services. Check with your cell phone provider. Most hotels have phones for use and charge about $1.00 per minute. You can also purchase a phone card in Rocky Point to call the U.S.
Q. Do I need a visa or a passport?
A. As of June 1, 2009 passports are required. You may also want to look into the “New” Passport Card. Only $45.00. For more info go to www.cbp.gov.
